VIRGINIA:
(PPP).Barack Obama's approval rating in Virginia is at 48%.But he's also doing pretty poorly with independents, as only 38% say he's doing well and 52% disapprove.
OHIO:
(AP).Obama's approval rating in Ohio has fallen rapidly in the past months. Quinnipiac University surveyed 1,259 voters in Ohio from June 26 to July 7. The poll found that 49% of voters approve of the job Obama is doing, while 44% disapprove. (That is 13 points down from May, when a separate Quinnipiac poll found a 62% approval rating and a 31% disapproval rating).
From Quinnipiac:
“Ohio historically has been the prototypical swing state. One of the reasons Barack Obama won the presidency by such a wide margin is that he carried Ohio with 52 percent of the vote and captured the lion’s share of independent votes,” Brown added.“Now, by a 48 – 46 percent margin, Ohio independent voters give the President a failing grade on the economy.
"These numbers indicate that he may be losing, at least for now, some of those who voted for him in November and should be an indication to the White House that his honeymoon with the voters may be ending.”
