NJ Governor-elect Chris Christie: "Hey, New Jersey, we did it!"

(The Star-Ledger).As Gov.-elect Chris Christie took the stage to deliver his victory speech in the New Jersey governor's race, a recording of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run" blared across the room.

Christie raised arms with Lt. Gov.-elect Kim Guadagno, and with his wife, Mary Pat, as the audience cheered, "Christie, Christie!"

"Hey, New Jersey, we did it!" Christie said to the audience, which in turn chanted, "Yes we can! Yes we can!" imitating President Obama's campaign slogan in the 2008 presidential election.

Christie noted that he had received a gracious concession call from Gov. Jon Corzine 40 minutes prior, and said he pledged a smooth transition to the new "Christie-Guadagno administration."

"Tomorrow, together, we begin to take back New Jersey," Christie said. "Suffocating taxes and a government that is out of control has rendered Trenton out of touch. We need to make New Jersey more affordable and we need to do it now."
