Senate Republicans have found new fodder for bashing the White House: President Obama's NCAA brackets and his visit to the Tonight Show.
Senate Republicans on Thursday morning wondered aloud why President Obama is taking time out from watching the economy to make NCAA bracket picks, and they knocked the president's visit to Jay Leno scheduled for taping this afternoon in Burbank, Calif.
"He even has time to fill out his NCAA basketball bracket, a healthy thing to do in my opinion," Senate GOP Conference Chairman Lamar Alexander told reporters today.
At a news conference with GOP Senate leaders today Alexander seemed to back Krzyzewski's comments, said, "I think that's what we'd like to say, with respect."
And Senate Minority Whip Jon Kyl, latched onto the Tonight Show appearance, saying Obama should skip the humor and come back to work on the AIG scandal. Obama picked against Kyl's home state team, Arizona, in the NCAA bracket, by the way.
"He flies off to Los Angeles tonight to appear on the Jay Leno show. My suggestion is he comes back [and] - since he's taken the full responsibility - get his people together" and find out what happened," said Kyl.
