Michele Bachmann: "If they go it alone, I think they'll be really alone in November, 2010."

transcript from "Hannity," August 18:
HANNITY: I saw a headline, a preview on the Drudge Report that it's going to be a New York Times article this morning that the Democrats are willing to go it alone. If they go it alone, what does that mean politically for them?

BACHMANN: Well, if they go it alone, I think they'll really be alone in November, 2010, because the American people are very intelligent people. Members of Congress may not read these bills, the American people do read these bills and they won't let their representatives in Congress alone come November of 2010.

The House Republicans have taken this very seriously. We are listening to our constituents, we're holding town hall meetings. And we're hearing exactly what the Democrats are hearing and it's going to be a very tough time for them in November of 2010.

And what it says — again how effective real Americans can be in this forum, and that's why, like Winston Churchill said this is not the end, this is not the beginning of the end, this may not even be the end of the beginning.

We need to keep this up because President Obama told the House Republicans in a private meeting, even if he's a one- term president, he intends to go forward with his agenda. So the American people are forewarned. We need to keep our antenna up.

Their loss is our Gain - Democratic Party ratings plummet

(Politico)The percentage of Americans who hold a favorable view of the Democratic Party has slipped below 50 percent for the first time since President Barack Obama took office, according to a new Pew Research Center poll released Wednesday.

Only 49 percent of Americans now hold a favorable view of the Democratic Party, down from 62 percent in the same poll shortly after Obama assumed office. Democratic favorable ratings hovered around 60 percent as recently as April, when 59 percent of those polled held a favorable view.

The national survey of 2,010 adults conducted Aug. 11-17 also found that 51 percent of Americans approve of Obama’s job performance with 37 percent disapproving. Independents split 45 percent-43 percent in approving of the president’s performance.

The Democratic Party’s favorability has decreased among most demographic groups. The decline has been largest among those with some college education (62% in April to 45% now). Similarly, 68% of people with family incomes less than $30,000 expressed a favorable opinion of the Democratic Party in April compared with 54% now. A similar decline is evident among those 30 to 49 (61% to 47%).

THE HALF ! Gallup,NBC,Pew,Rasmussen have Obama's approval at 51%

*NBC/Wall Street Journal Survey on Health Care:
In general, do you approve or disapprove of the job that Barack Obama is doing as president?
* Approve 51%
* Disapprove 40%

Do you generally approve or disapprove of the job Barack Obama is doing in handling the issue of health care reform?
* Approve 41%
* Disapprove 47%

*Gallup: :
Gallup's daily "tracking" poll on Obama's approval/disapproval numbers has 51% of those surveyed saying they like the job the president is doing and 41% saying they disapprove.

*Rasmussen:
...Overall, 51% of voters say they at least somewhat approve of the President's performance. Forty-nine percent (49%) disapprove.

*Pew Research:
The latest national survey by the Pew Research Center for the People & the Press, conducted Aug. 11-17 in English and Spanish among 2,010 adults reached on landlines and cell phones, finds that 51% now approve of Obama’s job performance while 37% disapprove. While that is largely unchanged from July (54%), it is down 10 points from June (61%).

Independents, who approved of Obama’s job performance by nearly two-to-one in June (56% to 29%) are now about evenly divided: 45% approve while 43% disapprove.

PPP poll:GOP has closed party ID gap among moderates since April: was 45 D 18 R, now 42 D 27 R

Results ,and a poll looking ahead to 2012 continues to find Huckabee as the strongest candidate against Obama.. to be released by tomorrow...stay Tuned....

PPP Poll:Obama's approval at 52%

(PPP).PPP's newest national survey finds that there has been very little change in public perceptions of Barack Obama since election day last November. 52% of voters in the country approve of the job he's doing so far, while 42% disapprove. Only 4% of people who voted for him last fall now disapprove of his performance, and just 10% who voted for John McCain now approve of his performance. By and large voters made up their minds about the President a year ago and there's been little to change that since he took office.

85% of Democrats but just 16% of Republicans think he's doing a good job. Independents are pretty evenly divided but with a slight lean toward Obama- 48% approving and 42% disapproving.

He's maintained high levels of approval with black voters (91%) and Hispanics (62%) but by a 49-44 margin more whites disapprove than approve of his work.

While Obama's overall popularity remains pretty strong his health care plan is not faring as well in the court of public opinion. 47% of voters say they oppose it with just 40% in favor.

Americans looked down on track record,Paying now the price for Obama’s Change

(Ronald Kessler-Newsmax). When we hire an employee, an electrician, or a plumber, we want to know that the individual has a good track record. Yet when electing Barack Obama, Americans ignored the fact that his track record was skimpy at best.

As a community organizer, Obama was a good talker but his only tangible accomplishment was ridding a Chicago housing project of some asbestos. If Obama had virtually no impact as a community organizer, he was even more invisible in the state Senate and later in the U.S. Senate. In both, Obama had a reputation for voting “present,” thus avoiding controversial decisions that could be used against him later. In the U.S. Senate, he missed more than 1 in 5 votes.

Rather than examining his record, Americans took it on faith that his slogan, “Change,” meant for the better. Now Americans are paying the price.

Obama is spending wildly with no idea of how the money will be repaid. As a result, over the next decade, the public debt will rise from 41 percent of GDP in 2008 to an astounding 82 percent of GDP by 2019, according to the Congressional Budget Office.

Obama’s approach to reforming health insurance has been chaotic. He has outsourced the details of the bill to Congress and seems to think, as with his campaign, that promising reform is the end of his job. Yet while Obama has claimed his health insurance plan would lower costs, the Congressional Budget Office has said it will actually raise costs and increase the nation’s debt.

Along with many other Americans, pro-Israeli Jews are wondering why they voted for Obama. Yet in supporting him overwhelmingly, they ignored the fact that he counted the Rev. Wright as his minister, friend, and mentor for 20 years. Wright has accused Israel of “ethnic cleansing” and “terrorism.” His latest public comment is that “them Jews” are keeping him from seeing Obama.

In contrast to Obama, Mitt Romney had a solid record of accomplishment both as governor and as a businessman. Yet the press focused on whether his hair looked too pristine, just as they focused endlessly on the color of Obama’s skin.

Polls are now showing that a majority of Americans no longer support President Obama’s policies. More than half say no healthcare reform is better than the plans now being proposed in Congress. Fifty-seven percent of Americans say the stimulus package is not working, and 72 percent of Americans want the unused money returned to taxpayers. Obama’s disapproval rating now exceeds his approval rating.

Belatedly, Americans are learning a lesson: to vote for candidates based on their track record, not on campaign rhetoric and cosmetics.

The Next Sarah Palin?

(The Dailybeast).Kelly Ayotte, New Hampshire’s GOP rising star, is a folksy, gun-loving mother of two who has her eyes on a Senate seat. Shortly after a relatively unknown New Hampshire attorney general, Kelly Ayotte, resigned her post last month to consider a run for U.S. Senate.

So why are Democrats spooked by a 41-year-old attorney general from New Hampshire? Maybe it’s because they’re worried Ayotte, with her budding star power and folksy charm, might actually be another Sarah Palin, a star who rockets out of nowhere. “She’s an absolute up-and-comer,” says one Republican political consultant. “She’s charming, nice, and polite. She’s untested, so the name Sarah Palin comes to mind—you never know exactly what the end result will be.”

New Hampshire political analyst Dean Spiliotes said Ayotte is definitely a rising star, but it’s unclear how she will do out on the stump,“She’s young, she’s got a nice family, two little kids, married, photogenic, articulate, etc…” Spiliotes said. “All the things you want in a candidate. And she’s fresh. A lot of other Republican candidates have already lost other races. The flip side is, we don’t know much about her as a campaigner.....

But Ayotte is already doing well, according to a University of New Hampshire poll, which had her leading her opponent, Paul Hodes, by 39 percent to 35 percent. Another poll by Research 2000 for the liberal Daily Kos Web site had the two at a tie.

NO OPTION FOR OBAMACARE! No support at Home without public option,No support nationally with or without Public option

(Rasmussenreports).Just 34% of voters nationwide support the health care reform plan proposed by President Obama and congressional Democrats if the so-called “public option” is removed. The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey shows that 57% oppose the plan if it doesn't include a government-run health insurance plan to compete with private insurers.

Last week, Rasmussen Reports tracking found that support for the Congressional plan was at 42%.While the tracking question did not specifically mention the public option, it referred to the bill proposed by the president and congressional Democrats now working its way through Congress.

The most dramatic impact is a sharp decline in enthusiastic support. Without the public option, only nine percent (9%) Strongly support the legislation. The earlier poll found 26% Strongly in favor of it.

That enthusiasm gap is especially significant since the percentage of those opposed to the legislation has consistently been higher. Last week’s poll found 44% Strongly opposed to the reform legislation. If the public option is dropped, 37% remain Strongly opposed.

Without the public option, just 50% of Democrats support the legislation. That’s down from 69% support measured a week ago. But here the enthusiasm gap is especially strong. A week ago, polling found that 44% of Democrats Strongly favored the reform plan. Without the public option, just 12% of Democrats Strongly support it.

Minus the government insurance option, 68% of Republicans remain opposed to the plan, down from 79%.

As for those not affiliated with either major party, 70% are opposed if the public option is dropped. That’s up from 62% in the previous survey.

These results suggest that the president has difficult choices ahead. A solid majority of unaffiliated voters are opposed to passing health care reform legislation with or without the public option. However, failure to pass a plan of any kind could create additional difficulties for the president, and a plan without the public option does not have the enthusiastic support of his base. This helps explain why, according to the New York Times, senior Democrats are considering going it alone on the reform plan without trying to get any Republican support for it.

Woman Comparing Obama to Hitler is a Lyndon LaRouche Democrat

(weeklystandard).CNN's Larry King showed the above video of Barney Frank laying the smack down on a woman at a townhall meeting who compared Obama to Hitler. CNN left out the fact that this woman is a Lyndon LaRouche Democrat.

In the full video (via Allahpundit), the woman says, "This policy is already on the way out. It already has been defeated by LaRouche." She also underscores her crazy LaRouchite beliefs by claiming that the U.S. has "30% real unemployment". No one disputes that LaRouchites are on the fringe -- but it's indisputable that they are fringe Democrats. They oppose Obamacare because they want a single-payer plan.

Rubio gaining support in FL race - trails now Crist same gap as Obama trailed Hillary at this point

The latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey in the Sunshine State shows Crist leading former Florida House Speaker Marco Rubio by 22 points among likely Republican Primary voters -- 53% to 31%. Five percent (5%) prefer some other candidate, and 11% are undecided. Still, the fact that Crist is barely above 50% in a primary against a much lesser known opponent suggests at least a potential vulnerability.

AARP Loses 60,000 Members by Supporting Pro-Rationing Health Care Agenda

(LifeNews.com) -- The nation's largest organization for seniors is losing members thanks to its support of a health care agenda that includes rationing health care.

Although the group has not technically endorsed the House and Senate bills specifically, it has put enough of its imprimatur on them that President Barack Obama wrongly said AARP endorsed the bills in a recent town hall forum.

In materials provided to CBS News on Monday, AARP said 60,000 citizens have left its membership rolls in protest over its general support for the government-run health care plan.

AARP spokesman Drew Nannis said it is not unusual for the group to lose members when it advocates controversial positions on issues."We take stands on issues that are contentious, it's part of what we do," Nannis said. "And because we have so many members we'll always have a small percentage that disagree with us so strongly they feel they need to cancel membership."

But its support has gone beyond that, as AARP hosted an event for Obama and the bills present a host of concerns about rationing and assisted suicide.

Not likeable or not electable? Obama crushes Palin in '12 race Marist poll shows

(Dailynews).Sarah Palin can grab voters' attention whenever she wants, but they're not ready to put her in the White House – not by a long shot.

If the 2012 presidential election were held today, and Palin was the GOP candidate, she’d get wiped out by President Obama, a new Marist poll showed Tuesday.

Only 33% of registered voters would go for Palin compared to Obama’s 56%, with 11% undecided.

Obama would pull in 92% of Democrats and Palin would get 73% of Republicans.

Independents would go 49% to 34% for Obama, according to the poll of 854 registered voters with a margin of error of 3.5%.

Men went for Obama 54% to 36% and women by a wider margin: 58% to 30%.

Whites favored Obama 50% to 40%, African-Americans by 99% to 1%, and Latinos 62% to 27%.

Generic Congressional Ballot - Republicans Lead 'In the Heezy'

Republican candidates have now matched their biggest lead over Democrats of the past several years on the Generic Congressional Ballot.

The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey shows that 43% would vote for their district’s Republican congressional candidate while 38% would opt for his or her Democratic opponent.

The level of support for Democratic candidates is unchanged this week, but backing for GOP candidates rose one point from a week ago. This is now the eighth straight week Republicans have led on the Generic Ballot…

For the second time in three weeks, women favor Republicans slightly more than Democrats, 41% to 39%. Men prefer the GOP by a 45% to 36% margin this week.

Among voters not affiliated with either party continue to strongly favor the GOP, 45% to 18%.

Robert Novak dies at age 78 - “Always love your country — but never trust your government"!

(SUN-TIMES EDITORIAL BOARD).Most people know the late Sun-Times columnist Robert D. Novak, who died this morning [Tuesday] from complications of a brain tumor, as a journalist. And indeed he was among the best this country has produced. Simply stated, Bob was a relentless reporter. His political columns were marked by his determination to dig out new information, behind-the-scenes anecdotes and Washington secrets to tell us something we didn’t know. He combined that with sharp analysis, insightful commentary and passion about the issues facing the nation to emerge as a brawling contestant in the great national debates of his era.

But more than that, his contributions to the great debates of the day demonstrated that Bob was someone who thought deeply about his country, its system of government and the challenges both faced. For example, in his 2000 book Completing the Revolution: A Vision for Victory in 2000, Bob offered his views on how America should build on the freedom legacy of President Reagan.

He was always eager to share his passion for public policy and politics. In speeches to college graduation classes, Bob distilled the essence of his years-long ruminations on America for young people just starting out in life:

“Always love your country — but never trust your government!

“That should not be misunderstood. I certainly am not advocating civil disobedience, must less insurrection or rebellion. What I am advocating is to not expect too much from government and be wary of it power, even the power of a democratic government in a free country.

“Ours is one of the mildest, most benevolent governments in the world. But it too has the power to take your wealth and forfeit your life. ... A government that can give you everything can take everything away.”

A Blame tactic for Failure - Carville calls for the Dems to let the GOP filibuster the Health care bill

(CNN) – After two weeks of sometimes contentious congressional town hall meetings on health care reform, and amid growing signals from the Obama administration that it may be willing to compromise on a key aspect of health care, Democratic strategist James Carville said Sunday that congressional Democrats should force Republicans to filibuster health care reform in the Senate.

“What about this?,” Carville said Sunday on CNN’s State of the Union, “Suppose they pass a House bill that can get 56 Senate Democrats.” Then, Carville suggested, instead of using reconciliation, a special budgetary maneuver in Senate procedure that frustrate GOP attempts to mount a filibuster, Democrats should call for a vote. “And make [Republicans] filibuster it. But the old kinda way is that they filibuster it and make’em go three weeks and all night and [Democrats] will be there the whole time.

“Then, you say, ‘They’re the people that stopped it. We had a majority of Democrats. We had a good bill. They stopped it.’"

“Make’em filibuster it and then run against a do-nothing Congress [in 2010],” the former aide to Bill Clinton and longtime ally of both Clintons told CNN’s John King.

Politico/Does President Obama have the guts? Maybe Hillary was right!

(Politico).Could Hillary Clinton have been right about Barack Obama?

Could she have been right when she said that he was the candidate of lofty promises —“the skies will open, the light will come down, celestial choirs will be singing and everyone will know we should do the right thing and the world will be perfect” — and not the candidate of real leadership?

In her former life as a presidential candidate, Clinton warned voters that Obama would let them down. She warned them that when the going got tough, he would fold up.

She said it was not just a matter of Obama lacking experience — that was the least of it — but that he lacked the strength, the toughness, the will to get the job done.

In January 2008, at Nashua High School North just before the New Hampshire primary, Clinton said of Obama: “I applaud his incredible ability to make a speech that really leaves people inspired. My point is that when the cameras disappear and you’re there in the Oval Office having to make tough decisions, I believe I am better prepared and ready to lead our country.”

Democratic voters disagreed with her (though she did win New Hampshire), and Obama went on to win both his party’s nomination and the presidency. But Clinton, now his secretary of state, left him with a warning: “You campaign in poetry, but you govern in prose.”

It is prose time for Obama.

The GOP's Big Comeback

(Reihan Salam-Dailybeast).Part of the problem for Democrats is that many have lost the taste for political combat.....with Obama in power, that energy has dissipated. Anti-war sentiment gave progressives the unifying narrative they needed. Yet the fact that over 100,000 troops remain in Iraq and are drawing down according to a gently-paced Bush-era timetable seems to barely phase once-fired-up MoveOn members. Obama's neoconservative-approved escalation in Afghanistan has gotten a rise out of a handful of progressive bloggers and dovish congressional Democrats, but again, the progressive base seems strangely indifferent....

If the war gave the left a sense of purpose, the exploding federal debt is doing the job for the right. There is no small irony to this, as Bush-era tax cuts and the enormously expensive wars in Afghanistan and Iraq (wars which I supported and continue to support) are responsible for much of the deterioration of America's fiscal position. It's taken an economic calamity to remind grassroots conservatives of the virtues of pre-Reaganite root-canal economics. This is not the modern, youthful, multiethnic, forward-looking GOP that Karl Rove and George W. Bush envisioned when they were plotting a run for the White House. Nor is this the highly-educated answer to the middle-class and mostly middle-aged netroots nation. Like the Perot voters who were so desperate for sincerity that they turned to an eccentric and enormous-eared billionaire, this is a movement of old, flinty, very skeptical people who don't believe President Obama when he claims that he can cover the uninsured and improve quality and lower costs long-term. They see it as their duty to save America from smooth-talking politicians.

Obama-era Republicans are as ill-prepared for this wave of angry activism as Bush-era Democrats were for the rise of the netroots. It took years for inside-the-Beltway Democrats to understand that the progressive base wanted a feistier, more confrontational politics. Only when Democrats united to defeat Social Security reform and to pressure the White House on Iraq did the party start to build momentum. That could be why most congressional Republicans are reluctant to cut a deal with the White House: they sense, rightly or wrongly, that maintaining clear distinctions will work to their advantage.

Obama Promised 3.5 Million Jobs -- Six Months Later-2.1 Million lost Jobs

The Republican Study Committee released this video and statement today:

Washington, D.C. – Republican Study Committee Chairman Tom Price (R-GA) issued the following statement on the six-month anniversary of the signing of the President’s so-called stimulus bill. Since becoming law, over 2 million Americans have lost work and only 18% of Americans say that the trillion-dollar plan has helped the economy.

“Is this the immediate economic jolt Americans were promised six months ago?” said Chairman Price. “Americans envision urgent action and job creation when they think of a stimulus. Yet after 181 days of bureaucratic bungling, wasted tax dollars, and growing unemployment, the American people see clearly that the President’s spending package was anything but an economic stimulus.

“While the results are surely disappointing to all, they are anything but surprising. Government spending is the single most inefficient manner of sparking economic growth. And it didn’t have to be this way. Conservatives offered a positive, proven solution to lift us out of our troubles, yet the President and congressional Democrats demonstrated they have faith in only government to lead this economy. While jobs continue to hemorrhage and deficits pile up, the American people are ready for a new approach. The Republican Study Committee is ready to lead with concrete solutions to restore the prosperity we seek. It is our hope that the President and majority will join us in a bipartisan effort to promote a true, pro-growth plan to put Americans back to work.”
